Fabric Resolution

I have been sewing over 40 years and making quilts for over 20 years. I have purchased many fabrics over these years! So I have made a decision to start cutting some of my "unwanted" and "what was I thinking when I purchased that fabric" into 2 inch wide strips. From these strips I am going to start making log cabin quilts. In the past week I took some left over scrapes and made a 9 patch quilt. When I have completed this quilt it will measure about 70 x 90---and all from left over scrapes. I am really excited about turning out as many quilt tops as possible this year. What are you doing with your scrapes. I would love to hear from you.

  1. Hey, Dot! I can't wait to see what you do with those scraps! I bet you have plenty! I love scrappy colors and I imagine you will have some great combinations! Be sure and give us pictures as you get them made!

  2. I'm making string quilts! But you knew that. Have you seen Bonnie Hunter's first book? Shirttails is in the title, can't remember the full title off-hand. She's on the same quest as you are and the book is full of ideas.

  3. About the post you left for me, I fell in Oct. (tangled up in fabric being pressed) and broke my hip. Hosp. said that it was "just a bruise" & sent me on my way. Walked on it with crutches, canes & walker for 3+ weeks then found out it was broken. From the stories I've heard since then, it happens a lot because the break is hard to see...but the orth. surgeon saw it immediately. Best to you, Dot.

  4. Boy I am behind. I haven't done anything with my scraps. I haven't even been sewing but am gonna get busy soon. I loved what you said to me about when all you can do is pray ("help"). That is where we are. Thank you for your prayers. Hey whenever it is time for that quilt show again you will have to let us know. I enjoyed that so much.

  5. I first want to say I hope Anita is feeling a little better since her hip was diagnosised properly! Wow...and to get tangled up in fabric. That sure is a warning isn't it?!

I am a SCRAPPER! Love Scraps more than anything that matches!~ I am making my grandson a star quilt..twin size. The back fabric is from a long yardage used to make a school table type display skirt. It has several yards of world map fabric my daughter picked up for me at the thrift store. I don't buy fabric from a store in general. I might if I'm ever forced to, but for right now I get so much from people that don't want theirs and from the thrift store!

I love log cabins! Get going girl and impress yourself with how many you can complete this year! :)
